In my pursuit for great conditioners, I have stumbled upon what I believe to be the greatest drugstore-brand deep conditioner EVER! Well, maybe, of the moment.
In the past, Joico has been my go-to conditioner for deep conditioning treatments and co-washes. I have naturally curly, brassiere length hair and until now, Joico was the only conditioner I could rely on to soften my curls and leave my hair fluffy and manageable. And since I wash my hair about 3 times per week, #sweat head; I usually buy a liter of the stuff each month.
The only issue is the liters can be costly if not on sale. At almost $30 dollars a pop, I now resent buying a liter or two each month because I knew “deeeeep” down inside my beauty soul there was another conditioner-for-less just as good as Joico. So after internet searching for top rated drug store brand conditioners, I cyber-stumbled across a hair blog called Keep It Simple Sista. The owner, Traycee, has beautiful waist length hair and contributes her rapunzel-like length retention on conditioning several times a week. My own personal hair length goal is middle back length, so I am willing to try almost anything to keep my hair healthy and happy while retaining as much length as possible.
Sadly, I do not have any pictures to show you all, (I will get better at this – promise), but I can tell you that this conditioner is the bomb.com!
How I use it:
Normally, I like to condition with heat under a hood dryer. Applying heat allows the conditioner to penetrate into the hair shaft leaving the hair super-silky smooth. As of late, I have not had the time to sit under the dryer, not even for 30 minutes, so while in the shower, I scrub my scalp with a moisturizing shampoo, and then apply Aussie 3 Minute Miracle ($3.57 @ Target) and let it my hair why I finish showering.
Next, I use a wide-tooth comb to detangle my curls while in the shower. I no longer completely rinse out the conditioner from my hair and doing so eliminates the need to moisturize it again once out of the shower.
Once out of the shower, I towel dry my hair, section it into two parts, and I create two braided pig tails. I allow my hair to completely dry way simply because it’s easier for me.
So there you have it! Needless to say, this conditioner will be in heavy rotation for a while in my current hair washing routine.
Bought it. Tried it. LOVED IT!
